Sportsmen’s Dinner

February 1st

North Oak Community Church 3000 Oak St. Hays, KS 67601 5:30pm

WHAT’S FOR DINNER:

We realize fellas like to eat. Come prepared for a full spread with all the classic fixins. The main entree this year will be Pulled Bison. Be sure to grab a plate full of our Wild Game o’dourves (the smoked venison sticks are always a hit).

WILD GAME SIDE DISH COMPETITION

Some of our local fellas pride themselves on their wild game recipes. We reserve one table for those who want to compete for bragging rights (plus the winner will receive one of the night’s TOP PRIZES).

This is a catch-all category, so feel free to submit anything involving your favorite wild game meat.

WHAT DOES THE DINNER COST?

If you can, we ask folks to pay $20/person. This helps us cover some of the cost of the food and the main speaker (emphasis on the word “some”). However, we also have a strict “Pay What You Can Afford” policy. If you can’t pay anything, don’t. Just come (but still register). We’d be glad to have you.

WHAT IS THE “BEST ANTLERS” CONTEST?

Bring in your antlers from the last season (professionally mounted, Europeans, or just sawn off….it all counts). We’ll have a place for you to tag your antlers and put them on display (keep this tag! It’s how we know it belongs to you).

There are three categories: Men, Ladies, & Youth. Each contest is a “People’s Choice” award. Sure, it entirely subjective but it’s also a lot of fun. Winners get a trophy & one of our Top Prizes.

WHAT IS THE “ANTLERS FROM YESTERYEAR” CONTEST?

Bring in any antler rack from the past. Did you get your lifetime buck two years ago? 30 years ago? Regardless of how long ago it was, bring it in for a chance at one of our top prizes.

ARE THERE OTHER PRIZES OR CONTESTS?

Quite a few, actually. Most of these will be door prizes that are tied to your entry ticket. Attendees under 18 are automatically entered in the “Junior Hunter” drawings.

IS THERE A GRAND PRIZE?

Yes! This is one of the most exciting parts of the evening. As you enter, be sure to fill out the Grand Prize Entry Card. It’s free and eligible to anyone in attendance. A card will be drawn to reveal the Grand Prize winner towards the end of the evening.

IS IT JUST FOR MEN?

Nope. While we make no secret that we are focused on men & their sons, we also recognize lots of women and daughters enjoy hunting, too. Frankly, some of them are better shots than the men in their family. Everyone is welcome.
